Information about Cordless Phones

The vast majority of cordless phones sold in the UK conform to the DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) standard that was developed in the early nineties. Over the last fifteen years DECT cordless phones have steadily taken over from the older analogue technologies and today most cordless phones sold in the UK make use of the DECT digital technology. All modern DECT cordless phones emit pulsed microwave radiation (about 1.8 GHz) constantly 24 hours a day; DECT base stations emit this radiation even when the phone is not in use.

Unlike most other digital cordless phones the Orchid low radiation DECT cordless phones use our unique SlickSwitch™ technology to sense when the phone is not in use. SlickSwitch™ automatically switches the phone and base station into “sleep mode”. When you go to make another call SlickSwitch™ activates both the handset and base station ready for use. It’s this clever use of technology that delivers zero microwave radiation when the unit is in “sleep mode”.

The Orchid third generation phones are also feature rich with benefits such as 100 name and number memory, use of up to six handsets with each base station plus the facility to communicate between handsets (intercom feature) and transfer calls etc.
